The plugin for Pages 09 does still work, so you may wish to rollback to Pages 09 if you need EndNote functionality in your Pages software. We are in close contact with Apple about these issues and are hopeful that they will rectify the problems sometime in the future. The plugin that Apple released has many issues, including the inability to cite in footnotes, and issues with in-text numbering.

In addition to Mac OS 10.9, Apple also released Pages 5 (which requires 10.9), along with a new EndNote plugin. We currently do not recommend using the EndNote plugin with Pages 5. This is what I fond on Thomson Reuters' support page: This could help to break the monopoly of Microsoft Office. This will in turn pressure publishers to accept the ".Pages" file format as a standard. If they can get the bibliography thing worked out, they can get much heavier usage for academic writing.
I would hope that they would provide direction to Sonny Software so that Bookends works, too.Īpply is very popular on campuses. I would like to see them work with EndNote to produce full "cite while you write" functionality for Pages, as there is for MS Word. But there are things Apple needs to do.Īpple needs at least to introduce a new plug-in that works properly with EndNote. But as I said, 7X seems to work OK, so this is not critical. Thompson Reuters needs to decide if they want to make EndNote 5X work with Mavericks Apple can't control that. This is an alternative bibliography application that worked with Pages 4. Pages 5.0 will not work at all with Bookends, from Sonny Software. It will not insert citations into footnotes or properly handle fields or the alphabetizing of a bibliography. Apple EndNote plug-in 2.0 works with EndNote 7X and Pages 5.0., but not properly.Apple EndNote plug-in 1.0 does not work at all with EndNote 7X and Pages 5.0.
EndNote 5X or below will not start in Mavericks, but EndNote 7X will.
